What are Field Notes?

Field notes are small observations written down before they disappear — details from a place, a moment, or a story that might otherwise get missed.

That felt like the right name for this space.

Most of my work starts with paying attention. Sometimes that means photographing a property before it hits the market. Sometimes it means creating images for a business that needs to show what they do clearly and professionally. Other times it means standing in a river, sitting in the woods, watching birds, covering a live event, or following a story as it unfolds.

This section of the site is where I’ll share more of what happens around the work.

Some posts will be behind-the-scenes notes from commercial shoots, real estate projects, outdoor work, or live events. Some will be thoughts on photography, film, and building a creative business. Others may simply be observations from time spent outside with a camera.

The goal is not to over-explain every image. It’s to leave a record of the process, the place, and the small details that make the work matter.

Photography has always been a way for me to slow down and notice things. Field Notes is an extension of that — a place for stories, lessons, and observations from behind the camera.

Thanks for following along.
